Regional Businesses Inspire Students at Shippensburg Area Senior High School

[Shippensburg, Pa] – [April 4, 2025] – The 4th Annual Career Day & Job Fair at SASHS on March 21st met with incredible success. Students explored a range of career paths during another inspiring Career Day event.  Sixty (60) professionals from local and regional businesses and organizations came to share their experiences, advice, and passion for their industries in hopes of sparking curiosity amongst our next generation of workers.

From healthcare to physical therapy to aviation, logistics, education, military service, finance, and skilled trades, students were introduced to diverse career opportunities during interactive sessions and engaging conversations.  Many of the participating organizations also expressed their desire to continue building partnerships with SASHS helping to guide students toward meaningful futures.

“This event was a tremendous success”, shared Krista Akers, SASHS Career Coordinator, who puts on the event. “It gives our students the chance to ask real questions, make personal connections, and start thinking about their futures in new and exciting ways.”

Professionals from companies such as 1st Ed Credit Union, Drayer Physical Therapy, Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, Epiroc, the PA Army National Guard, and many others generously gave of their time and expertise.  They shared not only what their day-to-day roles look like, but also the skills, education, and mindset needed to succeed in their fields.

“It’s amazing to see students showing interest in their potential future careers,” said Jason Nell of Epiroc.  “Events like this give them the spark they need to start thinking about their goals early, and we’re honored to be a part of that. It was exciting to speak to some great students about logistics, supply chain and transportation/trade compliance. They were really interested!”

In addition to career insights, several visitors offered to return as classroom speakers and mentors.
