On April 17th at 8:00 AM, 46 Presenters and 52 Companies arrived at SASHS. It was the anticipated 3rd Annual Career Day & Job Fair arranged and facilitated by Krista Akers, SASHS Career Coordinator.
Students had the unique opportunity to explore an incredible array of professional paths and gain insights into the world beyond textbooks. The event was a huge success.
From aeronautics to budding engineers, electricians, veterinary enthusiasts to soldiers and nurses and educators, the event left real-world impressions on our students.
Highlights of the day included talks by young innovators from SU’s Diller Center to crane operators from Volvo and Manitowac Companies. Ulta Beauty and Keurig/Dr. Pepper (who owns YooHoo) were also big attention grabbers.
Words from the presenters served as inspiration, encouraging students to dream big and persevere in the face of challenges. SASHS gym was transformed into an energy-filled marketplace of careers, with booths decorated with banners and manned by professionals eager to share their experiences and workplace opportunities.
CPR simulations, coding, and watching robotics, the event provided a taste of what lies ahead for those willing to pursue their passions. Even when their passions run toward chocolate! A fun talk presented by The Chocolatier Restaurant from Hershey Entertainment & Resorts brought more than a few smiles.
“I never realized there were so many possibilities out there,” stated a junior who attended the event. And, what better than this comment from a presenter: “Wow! I want to thank you for allowing me to be a part of your great day! It was a highlight for me and I welcome any chance I have to come and speak to your students. They were highly attentive and engaged with my conversation. They asked questions and were totally interested the entire time.”
That about sums up what created another memorable Career Day & Job Fair at SASHS - the students. Our students are destined for great things and their interest and enthusiasm underscores their bright futures.
