Summer 2019 Camps, June 10-13, 9 AM- 3-PM
In this hands-on exploration, we will engage in traditional and contemporary fiber arts. Drawing upon an exciting variety of materials and techniques, we will create both functional and decorative artworks. Projects will include weaving, needle felting, fabric coil basketry, batik, macramé, and a unique, hand-sewn stuffed character. It will be a fun-filled adventure, sure to satisfy busy hands and creative minds.
Fool Me Twice: Photo Illusions
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice and you must be making some cool photo illusions! In this all new art and tech camp, campers will use tablets, smart phones, and other photographic technology (NO EQUIPMENT REQUIRED) along with tried-and-true trick photographic techniques to create amazing illusions. Along our journey, campers will develop skills with basic photo techniques and equipment, discover a few Photoshop tricks, learn about the history of trick photography, hear and tell some cool stories, and make lots of great take-home artwork.
Surface Treatment: A Painting Adventure
Combine colorful acrylic paint with glue, soap, pastes, pumice, papers, stencils, gauze and…. WOW! These are just a few materials and methods to introduce the ideas of depth, texture & composition into your artistic arsenal. Students can experiment, play and share their discoveries in this camp that is all about enjoying the activity of making art. People will wonder, “how you did that” instead of immediately recognizing the mysterious result. Campers will work with a variety of additive, subtractive & resist techniques that will emphasize painting freely, being happy in the process and turning this guided play into completed works of art that are amazingly exciting to look at (and in some cases, touch).
